Khavda Solar Project: NTPC Green, GIPCL Adds New Renewable Capacity

NTPC Green has recently commissioned the fourth tranche of 37.95 MW of the 300 MW Khavda Solar Energy Project. It is part of the NTPC Renewable Energy portfolio, a subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy, for its solar project, which is located in Bhuj, Gujarat. The project, which forms part of the 450 MW Hybrid Tranche V Project, was declared commercially operational on October 19, 2025.

This project is being commissioned in multiple tranches. In the first tranche, NTPC Green commissioned a 142.2 MW capacity project. The second tranche, with a capacity of 32.8 MW, and the third tranche, with a capacity of 49.125 MW, were declared commercially operational on June 28, 2025, June 30, 2025, and August 22, 2025, respectively.

The total capacity declared commercially operational is 262.075 MW. The current commercial capacity of NTPC Green Energy Limited Group stands at 7,515.725 MW. With the addition of this capacity, the total installed capacity of the NGEL Group will increase to 7,553.675 MW.

GIPCL Commissions 210 MW Khavda Project

Other companies that recently added renewable energy capacity at Khavda include Gujarat Industries Power Company (GIPCL). It recently announced that the commercial operation of the second lot of 105 MW commenced. 

With this, the total capacity commissioned by the company reached 210 MW out of 600 MW. The power from this 600 MW Khavda Solar Project will be supplied to GUVNL as per the PPA. Commissioning of this project marks a significant milestone in GIPCL’s commitment to promoting clean and sustainable energy.

Khavda:NTPC Green Commissions 9 MW Wind Project 

In a seperate announcement, NTPC Green announced the commissioning of 9 MW wind energy project. This project is a part of the total 92.4 MW (Wind) Project located in Bhuj, Gujarat. It forms a part of Ayana Renewable Power Four which is a subsidiary of Ayana Renewable Power and form a part of its joint venture with ONGC NTPC Green.
