The tender scope includes the manufacturing, supply, packing, forwarding, and transportation of crystalline bifacial solar PV modules with a minimum nominal rating of 570 Wp. The modules must fall under the "open category" and be listed in the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) List-I.

The selected developer for the NTPC tender will be required to supply 1,560 MWp (4x390 MW) of bifacial modules, along with an additional 1 percent as spares.

To develop this project, NTPC REL said the project would be financed through its own resources and/or external borrowings. Additionally, as per the financial criterion set under the tender, the bidders must have had an average annual turnover of no less than ₹0.247 cr/MWp of quoted capacity during the three financial years preceding the techno-commercial bid opening, the tender added.

Earlier, Vikram Solar, an Indian solar module manufacturer, won a 326.6 megawatt (MW) supply order from Gujarat Industries Power Company Ltd (GIPCL) for India’s largest renewable energy project at Khavda in Gujarat.

Separately, Kosol Energie secured a 400 MW photovoltaic (PV) module supply order through Zetwerk earlier this year. This project was a part of the larger 1,515 MWp PV module requirement for NTPC’s Khavda Solar Project in Gujarat. The order included the supply of 550W bifacial modules, which are designed for tracker-mounted installations to improve power generation efficiency. The modules will be manufactured under Kosol Energie’s Category-1 certification, and the company is listed as an approved supplier by NTPC.
