KB Home Offers SunPower’s New OneRoof Solar System

KB Home, a leading homebuilder in the United States, announced that it has become the first homebuilder to offer Nasdaq listed SunPower’s new and innovative OneRoof product at its Ashbury new-home community in San Francisco Bay Area.

Rooftop Solar

SunPower OneRoof system has delivered an efficient, durable, attractive and cost-effective solar roofing product that is ideal for new-home market. While, KB Home has been in the solar homebuilding industry for nearly 15 years, and was one of the first national homebuilders to offer solar, well before solar became a requirement of the California Energy Code.

Earlier in 2011, the two companies partnered to introduce the homebuilder’s first all-solar community, taking an early leadership position in the industry and developing an enduring partnership in the process.

Since the last 18 months, SunPower’s R&D team has collaborated with KB Home to develop SunPower OneRoof system. Some of the features of this innovative new product include interlocking metal roof trays with integrated panel clips to install solar panels directly to the roof deck.

Commenting on the collaboration, Tom Werner, CEO and chairman of the board of SunPower, said that “KB Home has once again demonstrated its leadership, and given our long-time partnership with the homebuilder, we are confident that OneRoof will be another successful collaboration.”

Werner further added that “OneRoof is an innovative solution for homebuilders working to meet California’s new-home solar mandate, as well as for other states that are considering similar policies. Given our place in the new-home market, investing in the development of a complete integrated solar system to benefit homebuilders was a priority, and we plan to incorporate OneRoof into all new-home installations.”

Speaking on the energy savings potential, Jeff Mezger, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of KB Home, said that “we are proud to have paved the way by providing energy savings potential to thousands of our homeowners through renewable solar power, which helps to lower their overall cost of homeownership and enables them to enjoy a more sustainable lifestyle.”

Mezger further added that “early on, we recognized that, through innovation and partnership with SunPower, we could create a winning solar combination for our homeowners.”

In April this year, SunPower introduced a new method, amid challenging economy due to coronavirus pandemic, of solar promotion which offers energy savings and security to US families in immediate need of payment flexibility.

California headquartered company has launched a ‘zero down and the first 6 payments covered by Us’ scheme through a VISA Reward Card Rebate*, where qualified customers can access the most efficient home solar panels on the market.
