Jaipur Vidyut Vikas Nigam Limited (JVVNL) has planned to decrease the timeline for net-metering procedures to 18 days to expedite the process of rooftop solar installations in the city. It comes at a time when the Union government has also put a thrust on boosting rooftop solar installations through the newly announced Pradhan Mantri Suryodaya Scheme. At the same time, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy also increased subsidies for residential rooftop solar and simplified the procedure for the Technical Feasibility Report.

The discom reportedly conveyed the decision to the local solar vendors of Rajasthan during a meeting heled yesterday. The information was shared by the Renewable Energy Association of Rajasthan (REAR). JVVNL has now decided to reduce the timeline for the net-metering procedures from 80 days to 18 days. The meeting of the discom with the local solar vendors was chaired by the MD of JVVNL. As per the publicly shared information by REAR, JVVNL is set to reduce procedural delays in installing rooftop solar in the state. It has also planned to sensitize the working staff to streamline the whole process.

JVVNL said that the MD assured the vendors that all the complaints related to the implementation of solar rooftops would be resolved on priority. “It was informed in the meeting that to complete the rooftop solar targets quickly, the current time limit for implementation has also been reduced. He informed me that a dedicated RE-DSM wing has already been established in Jaipur Discom.” JVVNL said in a media statement.

In the media release issued by the JVVNL, the local Jaipur discom said that it plans to add 1,000 rooftop connections before the end of March 2024. “For the speedy implementation of the work of installation of rooftop solar systems and to create awareness among various stakeholders, a meeting of empaneled solar power vendors was organized under the chairmanship of the Managing Director of Jaipur Discom in the conference hall of Vidyut Bhawan on Thursday. More than 150 listed vendors executing rooftop solar installation work through the National Solar Portal and Unified Web Portal were present at the meeting. In the meeting, the status of the implementation of rooftop solar as well as the challenges being faced in the implementation of this work at the district, circle, division and sub-division level were discussed in detail,” JVVNL said.

Managing Director of Jaipur Discom, RN Kumawat, said that the target is to install at least 1000 rooftop solar systems in Jaipur by March 31, 2024, and this target has to be achieved in the stipulated time. “Solar power developers present in the meeting and connected through virtual medium assured that their target is to install about 2000 rooftop solar systems in Jaipur by March 31 and are ready for its implementation. Managing Director Kumawat effectively motivated for timely implementation of the ongoing and upcoming projects under the national and state level targets of establishment of rooftop plants,” JVVNL said.
