Juniper Green Energy has commissioned its maiden wind power project, which can contribute 70 MW to Gujarat’s renewable energy capacity.

Currently, Gujarat has 25.2 MW operational capacity as part of the project’s progressive rollout. Juniper’s project was commissioned in almost 9 months before the scheduled commercial operations date (COD) of the project. This project is expected to deliver power under a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with GUVNL at a tariff of ₹2.90, which aligns with their efforts to provide cost-effective and environmentally responsible energy solutions. The project is expected to produce around 230 MUs of electricity per year, aiding in Gujarat’s renewable energy efforts and reducing carbon emissions by an estimated 2,13,055 tones annually.

This initiative is expected to supply power to approximately 45,440 households, and showcased Juniper Green Energy’s role in promoting renewable energy adoption. On the commissioning, Naresh Mansukhani, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Juniper Green Energy, expressed his appreciation for the team’s efforts: “The start of operations for our first wind power project and that too in record time is a tribute to our team’s exceptional work. It’s their perseverance and dedication to sustainability that have made this day possible. I am immensely proud of the strides we are making in renewable energy and look forward to continuing this path with the unwavering spirit and innovation that characterize our team.”

Earlier this year, Juniper Green Energy Private Limited and KPI Green Energy Private Limited have been awarded the project for establishing 200 MW capacity, part of a 500 MW grid-connected wind-solar hybrid power project in Gujarat. The allocation was done by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL).

Another 500 MW allocation of the project will be done through the greenshoe option. The auction for the bid mentioned above had 280 MW getting auctioned while 200 MW was awarded. Juniper Green Energy secured a contract for 150 MW at Rs Rs 3.04 per kWh while KPI Green Energy secured a 50 MW project with a price of Rs 2.99 per kWh.
