Jinko ESS and METLEN Ink Deal to Deploy 3 GWh+ Energy Storage

Jinko ESS, an energy storage systems provider and a subsidiary of JinkoSolar, has signed a framework agreement with METLEN, an energy infrastructure company, to deploy more than 3 GWh of utility-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) across Chile and European markets.

The agreement, formalised at METLEN’s headquarters in Athens, Greece, builds on the success of an existing 1.6 GWh energy storage project in Chile. Under this project, Jinko ESS is supplying its advanced G2 Utility liquid-cooled systems, with full delivery expected by Q4 2025.

Combining Technology and Global Execution

The deal was signed by Fangkai Zhou, CEO of Jinko ESS, and Nikos Papapetrou, Executive Director at M Renewables, a METLEN company. The partnership is expected to significantly enhance grid resilience and support clean energy deployment in target markets.

“METLEN’s proven energy infrastructure capabilities and Jinko ESS’s technological innovation create an unmatched value proposition for grid operators,” said Mr. Zhou. “This framework ensures long-term supply security while accelerating the clean energy transition in strategic markets.”

Backed by Strong Pipelines and Global Reach

METLEN has a 12.7 GW global renewable pipeline, including 2.6 GW in energy storage, highlighting its presence in the industry.

“By joining forces with Jinko ESS, we are combining cutting-edge storage technology with our expertise to unlock large-scale, resilient energy infrastructure,” Papapetrou stated.

The latest agreement follows Jinko ESS’s recent win in Germany, where it secured a 150 MWh storage project involving 30 units of its 5 MWh G2 Systems, integrated into 20-foot containers. Delivery for that project is scheduled between October and November 2025.

A Rising Leader in Energy Storage

Established in 2022, Jinko ESS has established itself as a major global player in energy storage solutions. It has been recognised as a Tier 1 Energy Storage Manufacturer by BNEF and serves a range of applications across commercial, industrial, and utility segments. Its parent organisation, Jinko Solar, has a presence in over 160 countries and is a renowned global solar technology and renewable energy company.
