Jupiter Electric Mobility (JEM), part of the Jupiter Group, announced the launch of its new 10 ft and 20 ft containerised Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) with the first 10ft BESS being supplied in partnership with GMMCO, a CKA Birla Group company and a provider of energy solutions to Greenlit, a Mumbai-based subsidiary of Recube and a company driving decarbonisation in the events, entertainment, andhospitality sectors.
Vertically Integrated ESS
Developed ground-up in JEM, every component from the container to the battery and system integration is designed and manufactured in-house. These standardized, air-cooled systems come with modular rack-based stacking and offer capacities ranging from 241 kWh to 3 MWh.
Commenting on this occasion, Vivek Lohia, Managing Director of Jupiter Group, said, “With the launch of our modular 10 ft and 20 ft containerised Battery Energy Storage Systems, JEM marks an important milestone in our Battery Division. Designed ground-up with capacities from 241 kWh to 3 MWh, these systems highlight our in-house design, engineering, and manufacturing strength. Built to stringent IEC standards, with certifications in place and system-level approvals underway, we see this segment scaling rapidly and emerging as a cornerstone of India’s clean energy future.”
Providing applications like diesel generator (DG) replacement, solar storage, energy shifting, and backup power for the Commercial & Industrial (C&I) segment, the BESS solutions are engineered for easy transportation, robust performance in harsh conditions, and deployment across diverse clean energy applications, the company said.
The BESS solutions are built at JEM’s Indore and Bangalore facilities.

5GWh in Next 3 years
To support growing C&I and utility market demand, JEM’s Indore plant will scale from a capacity of 1 GWh annually to 5 GWh in the next 3 years. Using GMMCO’s reach across the country in the energy and equipment space, JEM and GMMCO partnership looks to cater to various industries. The launch of these 10 ft and 20 ft containerised systems marks a key step in delivering scalable, domestically built energy storage for India, JEM added.
Marking its entry into global markets, JEM will also export its first 20ft BESS unit to Africa in October and also soon be launching grounds up built liquid cooled BESS systems for grid scale usage.
Pankaj Kumar Jha, Senior Vice President - Energy and Transportation Business, GMMCO Ltd., said, “At GMMCO, we are proud to partner with JEM to launch containerised Battery Energy Storage Systems. With our pan-India reach and energy expertise, we look forward to helping industries transition to sustainable, round-the-clock clean power.”
JEM said that it will continue working with GMMCO, with plans to roll out more such sustainable solutions across the country.
