Jakson Green Signs First Wind Power PPA with GUVNL for 100 MW Project

Jakson Green Ltd has signed its first Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) in the wind energy segment with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL), marking its entry into utility-scale wind power.

The agreement, signed through Jakson Green’s subsidiary JGRJ Three Solar Pvt. Ltd., covers a 100 MW grid-connected wind power project in Gujarat. Under the 25-year PPA, GUVNL will procure electricity at a tariff of ₹3.59 per unit, as part of its Wind Tender Phase VIII.

The project is expected to generate more than 300 million kWh annually, offsetting approximately 250,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year. It is scheduled to become operational within 24 months.

Jakson Green will oversee the entire project lifecycle, including land acquisition, installation, securing regulatory approvals, and ensuring connectivity with the State Transmission Utility (STU) network for GUVNL.

Krishnan Rajagopalan, Head of IPP at Jakson Green, noted that India’s wind energy potential—estimated at over 695 GW—offers a strong foundation for clean energy expansion, particularly in wind-rich states like Gujarat. “With this step into wind energy, we are well-positioned to strengthen our presence in the Indian renewables market,” he said.
