Inox Wind Signs Pact For India’s Single Largest 1500 MW Order from CESC

Indian wind energy company Inox Wind Limited (IWL) announced today that it has entered into a binding framework agreement with CESC Limited, one of the largest power utilities in India, for the installation/supplies of 1,500 MW of wind capacity over the next 3-4 years.

The deal is for IWL’s latest DF/3000/145 Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs), each having a minimum capacity of 3.3 MW. The scope of the agreement comprises a mix of end-to-end turnkey execution for 1,000 MW and equipment supply with a limited scope EPC for 500 MW. Additionally, IWL’s subsidiary, Inox Green Energy Services Limited (IGESL) will provide post commissioning multi-year operations & maintenance (O&M) services. This is by far the single largest order signed for a wind project in India by any Wind OEM.

CESC, the flagship company of RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, is India’s first fully integrated electrical utility company ever since 1899, generating and distributing power and headquartered in Kolkata. It is the sole electricity distributor within an area of 567 sq. km. of Kolkata & Howrah and serves 3.4 million consumers and commercial users. Through its subsidiaries, the company distributes power in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh with a license area of 335 sq. km. It also operates three Distribution Franchisee in Rajasthan and Distribution Franchisee of Malegaon, Maharashtra. It has 2,325 MW of thermal generating stations, which meet most of the power requirements for Kolkata and Greater Noida license area.
