Inox Wind Gets Its 3MW Turbines Enlisted With MNRE

Indian wind energy company Inox Wind Limited announced that its 3 MW Wind Turbine Generator (WTG), with a booster capacity of up to 3.3 MW, has been enlisted in the Revised List of Models and Manufacturers (RLMM) published by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE). The firm said that its 3 MW wind turbine is now commercially available.

“Inox Wind’s 3 MW WTG with booster capacity up to 3.3 MW, developed with globally renowned AMSC as the technology partner, is a globally proven turbine with over a decade of operating history. It has a 145 m rotor diameter, one of the largest in its class,” the firm said.

As per the announcement of the cleantech firm, the wind turbine will be available in multiple hub height variants, including 100 m, 120 m, and 140 m. Inox Wind said that this turbine offers one of the lowest levelized energy costs on a per unit basis given its compact design, resulting in lower costs of production, transport and logistics as well as installation, thereby giving the company a sustainable edge in the Indian market. The wind power firm said that with multiple orders aggregating more than 550 MW already in hand for the 3 MW WTGs, and with RLMM in place, there will be a major ramp-up in the manufacturing and supplies of the turbines to meet the high demand.

Kailash Tarachandani, CEO of Inox Wind, said, “The RLMM listing of our 3 MW WTGs is an important milestone for the company and we can now accelerate the commercial sales. We believe our 3 MW turbines are the best-in-class offerings suited for Indian wind conditions and will be a key growth driver for us going forward. The product has received huge interest from our customers across PSU, IPP & C&I segments and this listing will help us further accelerate our supplies and installation of the turbines.”

He added, ” Among the very few end-to-end wind solutions providers in the country and with comprehensive products and services offerings, Inox Wind stands in a unique position to capitalize on the huge opportunity ahead and embark on a massive growth journey.”

Inox & global picture

Inox Wind Limited (IWL) is a wind energy solutions provider servicing IPPs, Utilities, PSUs and Corporate investors. IWL is a part of the US$ ~ 8 BN INOXGFL Group, which has an experience of over nine decades and is primarily focused on two business verticals – chemicals and renewable energy. IWL is a fully integrated player in the wind energy market with four manufacturing plants in Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh, where blades, tubular towers, and hubs and nacelles are manufactured. With its 3 MW WTG series offering, IWL’s manufacturing capacity is more than 2 GW per annum. IWL’s subsidiary, Inox Green Energy Services Ltd, is the only listed wind O&M services company in India, having a solid portfolio of more than 3.2 GW and a multifold growth path ahead.

This development comes when other competing firms like Suzlon and Adani Group are harping on the high-power wind turbines to tap the demand for its new market. Suzlon had earlier also boasted about its demand for its 3MW turbines, whereas Adani Group has even enlisted its higher capacity wind turbines. Globally, several wind firms have even gone for 5MW wind turbines.
