Green Stocks Sep 30: At Month End, Worries Remain For Green Pack

With the month finally drawing to a close, the green pack has much to be relieved about, but enough to worry about as well.  As we said earlier, global markets are not out of the woods yet, despite what the US markets might indicate, with risks high and investors nervous. That explains the unprecedented records we are seeing in Gold and silver prices. For India, the risk of an oil price escalation is also real, as the endgame of the Russia-Ukraine war comes closer. 

With a trade deal still to be signed, markets have clearly decided to wait and watch. The slip in prices of Solar World Solutions, the latest solar firm to be listed, won't help sentiment vis-à-vis green energy stocks.  There is a real case for promoters checking their expected valuations,  as the green energy premium comes back to earth now. 

The strength on the Waaree Energies counter today underlined the value of being big, as punters are increasingly veering towards the larger the better view for green energy stocks. The domestic-focused Premier Energies also gained accordingly.  The memo was missed by the newly listed Vikram Solar, however, as the Kolkata-based firm continued to drift down well below its IPO price. It's a repeat of the Acme Solar story, and investors will need to evaluate whether they have the patience to see any further drift or book their losses even. That, however, hasn't helped the largest Solar pump player, Shakti Pumps, or even large EPS players like Sterling and Wilson Renewable. Those stocks will clearly need a flow of orders and even faster execution to make it count on the bourses.
