Green Stocks Oct 14-The Brakes Stay On For Now

While linked to broader market movements, most of the green pack has given up its higher alpha status vis-à-vis the rest of the market. ie, the chances of the green pack outperforming the broader market have reduced this year, even as pockets of outperformance continue to remain. No other segment has been hit by this than the developers, who simply have found it impossible to move sentiment towards the heady days of 2023-24. Put it down to high expectations, then, that have been met in large part, leaving investors searching for the next big trigger. 

It's the same story with manufacturers, where investors are caught between the quarter after quarter of extraordinary results and the nagging feeling that this simply cannot last. Brokerage reports advising caution post March 2026 haven't helped, though newer, more optimistic investors do seem to be jumping in occasionally. 

It's the EPC segment where firms have surprised, and continue to offer stronger upsides, as seen in the reaction of Waaree RTL stock after the results. The strong results bode well for other EOCs as well, helped along by the healthy numbers seen from GK Energy as well. Firms that manage to scale up without suffering structural issues with managing growth, be it working capital or over/under hiring, will continue to make investors happy at these prices, and Q2 results, as they play out, will make that distinction clearer in many cases.
