Green Stocks Nov 7- Green Pack Stumbles, Recovers With Market

On a day when the markets gyrated significantly, green stocks reflected the volatility as well, before covering up a significant part of the morning losses. The lack of buyers is hurting all stocks, and green stocks are no exception as we have seen. While all this happens, there is a fresh issue about to hit the markets from Emmvee Photovoltaic, a respected solar manufacturer, and probably the best known from South India. Even as it has everything going for it in terms of pedigree and growth , it should be interesting to see how this IPO fares, considering the mixed results investors have had from the last two solar manufacturing IPOs from Vikram Solar (below IPO price) and Saatvik Solar (just above). 

KPI Green Energy, part of the well-known KP group, delivered a good set of Q2 numbers today on expected lines, yet ended up losing ground. These are EPC firms that are seeing their Price-to-Earnings ratios (PE ratios) fall from 60 plus to sub 30 levels, and that too after showing over 100% profit growth. Even as sustaining such high growth rates on a larger base will not be possible, the fact remains that existing order books mean that 25-30% growth rates will still follow, although the markets seem more worried about margins in this particular case. 

Among other results expected today are those from Shakti Pumps, the bellwether for the solar pumps sector. A good set of results has become almost an imperative for Shakti Pump, which trades well below its last QIP price. With a record of announcing results after market hours, this stock will give punters a whole weekend to make up their mind on their next moves.
