Green Stocks June 20: Stocks Lead Market Surge

As predicted, a turn in market direction saw our green energy pack lead the charge, as most stocks beat market gains today. Waaree Energies, beaten down to sub 2700 levels yesterday, roared back above 2900 with a strong show today, as its subsidiary Indosolar got relisted, and looks set to climb a fair way before settling down. While Indosolar has got its turnaround story to offer, the parent firm saw perhaps many savvy investors realise that the US market impact from early withdrawal of tax credits would not impact it as much as feared, It's a theme the Waaree management has been talking about, and they seem to have found takers finally.

Following Waaree was the other key solar manufacturer, Premier Energies, which also rose over 5%. EPC players, Shakti Pumps, Waaree RTL and KPI Green also enjoyed a strong return to gains, as they await more sustainable return of sentiments.

What might have disappointed a few people was the listing of Oswal Pumps, as the firm settled down after a high of 652 during early trading., The Karnal-based firm has a long way to go now to deliver on promises and the potential in the segment it occupies.

With practically no stock in the red, the next week's performance will be eagerly watched by believers in the green energy theme for signs of stronger revival than just a day's spurt. But looking at the numbers, the market might have started separating the big boys from the smaller firms, and the reality might seem to start reflecting in valuations at some stage in the next month.
