Green Stocks July 16: Investors Cautiously Optimistic

With just a day before two of the stocks in our green pack,  Waaree RTL and Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy, announced Q1 results, the trend continued to remain cautiously optimistic. While Waaree RTL and KPI Green continued to gain, Sterling and Wilson were not as active, perhaps with lesser clarity on promoter Reliance's plans for adding renewable capacity yet.

Waaree Energies continued its fine run on hopes that the US-India trade deal will benefit it as a key solar exporter, even as Premier Energies paused today after the losses from yesterday. 

With so much talk of a strong Q1 and overall numbers for green energy, all the key developers ended with gains today, with Acme Solar a notable miss. Solar glass maker Borosil Renewables continued to gain as it has after the anti-dumping duty was announced some time back, but investors would be advised to be prepared for an ordinary  Q1, as the upside for the firm will only follow from Q2 onwards. Importantly, it also has some competition now, which might limit gains. 

So, one can be hopeful of a stronger move by the green pack from July 18, if the results tomorrow are true to expectations. The next set to watch would obviously be the solar pump makers, Shakti Pumps and Oswal Pumps, with the latter particularly expected to do something special to ignite stronger investor interest yet again.
