Emmvee Photovoltaic continues to find takers in a burning market, where red has clearly been the colour of the month. the Bengaluru based module and cell maker continued to push back against the trend, with the gains it managed, even as the rest of the green pack seems resigned to swinging to broader market trends for now.
Record capacity additions in calendar year 2025 have done nothing to help overcome the wall of worry that has come up, linked to rising perceived risks for the sector. That is somewhat natural, consisting the high dependence on China for both solar and storage, but we see the newest reports from China of the country's anti-monopoly regulator specifically asking firms to desist from any cartel like approach as a positive. That should temper some fears on the impact of price rises, if they happen, for now.
The larger issue for the sector is how prices behave once ALCM kicks in from June, when all modules will need to use domestically produced cells. Fears of a price rise aside, expect some developers and customers to question the rationale of so much protection for the manufacturing sector if prices are going to be so much higher than global benchmarks. Indian firms will do well to push as much as they can to limit the impact, or the hope of a short term boost to earnings could lead to policy shifts as well.
As pre-budget hopes and expectations start to come in, it is clear that the overarching theme from firms is a hope for continuity and fine tuning of ease of doing business rules, rather than any single big bang reform. Will the government oblige? We will see.
