As large caps like Waaree Energies shot up due to their existing US presence, other solar manufacturers too gained on hopes of an easier time exporting to a market that is easily the most relevant market after India for them.

Finally, the much awaited trade deal with the US weas announced, and with it,  new energy flowed through the green pack as well.  As large caps like Waaree Energies shot up due to their existing US presence, other solar manufacturers too gained on hopes of an easier time exporting to a market that is easily the most relevant market after India for them.

While today's move is largely what one would term a knee-jerk reaction, releasing pent up energy from weeks of being pushed down, there is no doubt that immediate benefits or not, the trade deal announcement  is a monkey off the market's back. The fact that India was waiting all these months without a deal had led to wider worries about the state of the relationship with the key trading partner, and its possible ramifications in an increasingly wider range of areas where US cooperation is vital.

One hopes that stocks whose valuations have been beaten down to almost unrealistic levels, if one goes by performance so far and order books etc, will recover much more of their lost ground. It will also be providing relief in many boardrooms where IPO plans were on hold or deferred, as valuations looked set to be pulled down. But for solar firms, the damage has been so deep on that issue that we simply cannot see firms going public  at the kind of valuations they had projected back in 2024-25. Which is not really a bad thing, since too many of those numbers were  built around narratives of an unending road of demand and positives, when the reality, as they have all discovered, is much different.
