Green Stocks Feb 11- Stocks Slip Into Red Zone Again

In a volatile market, the green pack had a mixed day, with exceptions like Vikram Solar that made some gains. As expected, the markets faced profit-taking across the board with investors keen to pocket some of the gains made in the past few sessions. Importantly, the quick selling also indicates that for many investors, there is no real trigger for a sustained rise yet, which would make them hold on to their shares bought recently.

With the last of the results expected to be out by next week for the green pack, it is interesting to see that many stocks are at levels where both profit growth and revenue growth should plateau, hardly the case for most for now. Volatility thus seems to be a given till the time there is a secular direction for the market again. 

Another factor that could prove to be a slippery slope is the rising crude prices, never a good news for India that imports over 80% of its oil and gas needs. We are nowhere close to where China is in terms of substituting fossil fuels significantly, with renewable energy usually filling in incremental demand gaps for now in most segments, be it transportation or industrial energy.  

Even news of significant pre-IPO placements for Cleanmax, an EPC looking to go public soon, has not cheered up the pack, including existing EPC firms. Final pricing on the Cleanmax issue, therefore, would be eagerly awaited to see what sort of investor feedback has been flowing back to management.
