Green Stocks Dec 3- Little Respite At Mid-Week For Green Pack
Like a torrential downpour that refuses to stop, stocks in the small cap and mid-cap space have been pushed to a situation where waiting it out is all they can do, it seems. The odd announcement of an order win, or a favourable policy move , seems good for a barely a day before normal service resumes of slipping prices. Calendar 2025, seen as one of the worst years in recent memory has offered little to redeem itself for stocks, and a rate cut seems to be the final hope for many.
Emmvee PV, which came out with stunningly good results managed to climb another day on the back of those numbers, while most of the others struggled. Similarly, KPI green only grew because it won a floating solar project
Categories like Solar pumps (government outstandings), solar manufacturing (overcapacity fears, policy volatility), EPCs (margin pressure), all have their perceptions to fight and remove in times like these, and nothing really seems to work until the tide shifts decisively at a broader level. The latest move to dictate panel efficiency on the sector is yet another proposal that seeks to micro-manage, instead of allowing a now mature market to decide.
By now, early indications are finally coming in about IPO plans being deferred quietely, by at least a quarter for now for some firms. That is not necessarily a good thing, as it indicates an anchoring to the high valuations firms were getting till a few months back. Considering the limited amount of floats many of the larger green firms have gone with, we believe there is a string case for more conservative IPO pricing by the newer entrants, who can always go for follow on offers or QIPs later if they deliver to investors.
For now, investor interest in green stocks is definitely flagging, as returns become ever harder to get.
