Green Stocks Dec 17- No Respite As Struggle Continues

On a weak day overall for the markets across all segments, green stocks had it no better. The shocker was a steep fall in Shakti Pumps and Oswal Pumps, a fall as steep as the sharp runup they saw this week.

For Shakti, while it has not given up the gains made in the past five sessions, the possibility, if it plays out, will not be a good indicator for the stock's performance for investors. 
Most other stocks ceded ground, other than Acme Solar and Borosil Renewables, whose little gains give little to build any thesis on. 

With two more days to go this week, and a few more sessions before the year ends, it is clear that steady FII selling driven by the currency's depreciation and other factors is weighing heavily. So even a Santa Claus rally might not materialise, something we see every now and then to keep up NAVs and other prices at year-end.

The next big indicator of rising distress would be promoter pledges going up, where we don't see panic signs yet, even as some have had to top up their pledges to keep up with falling prices.
Firms waiting to take the IPO plunge might have to start making alternate plans, which would come at a significantly higher cost if the pressure continues on existing players' prices. 

All in all, interesting times indeed for a sector that is going through its best phase ever.
