Green Stocks Aug 8- Week Ends On A Low Note

It was a tough week for the markets in general, and green stocks could not escape the pressure as well. While the odd stock made a break to align better with valuations after being beaten down, the broader picture for the green pack remains challenging.

Large stocks like Waaree Energies, which has weathered the pressure relatively better, remain the exception rather than the rule, as most stocks have suffered week-on-week losses. It must be galling, particularly for investors in firms like the EPC firm KPI Green, who saw no boost eventually from good results. Others like Adani Green and Borosil Renewables have suffered more in comparison. 

The outlook for the near future remains cloudy, as Q2 is usually a mixed bag depending on the impact of monsoons on work, even as the status of the demand situation remains comfortable enough for most players. The government continues to fine-tune policies, something while it shows a responsive approach, is not always welcome for the sheer frequency of tweaks in policy. 

For now, like most of the industry, firms will be hoping to see a resolution to the mess that is the India-US trade negotiations, as a resolution there will almost certainly lift overall market sentiment. Besides that, we believe the green pack doesn't really need a trigger to make a run for at least 5-6% gains overall, besides improving grounds significantly for more firms to tap the public markets.
