Green Stocks Aug 12- Stocks Await Triggers As Deadlines Loom

Despite some volatility in movements today, it remains a difficult market to call in terms of definite direction in the short term. Two deadlines, one involving the Trump-Putin meet this Friday, and another of August 27, continue to loom over markets for their possible impact.

The extension of tariffs on China by 90 days by the US administration is another reminder that countries will need leverage to deal with this completely transactional, ideology free administration. India is not a good place, other than the obvious market it offers to prospective partners. Trump is clearly too narrowly focused on personal gains to get that for now, however much he might protest that its good for the US.  We continue to be fearful of a sudden burst of the balloon being inflated, as data piles up on the sheer foolishness of it all, and let there be no doubt, that is what it has been so far by any stretch of imagination. 

Our green pack will continue to feel mostly second order effects of these moves, even as most have come out with decent results, with at least two more quarters looking good. Solar pimp makers in fact look good for a much linger time frame, with phase 2 of PMKUSUM being talked about well in time before phase 1 ends in early 2026. 

Watch out for sharp moves in EPC and wind energy firms, which have both been hit by margin worries, but could surprise with above average deliveries yet. Firms like Sterling and Wilson Renewable remain risky bets to consider, owing to the possibility of big news on the project as well as management front.
