Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Gujarat on August 25 and 26, where he will inaugurate, dedicate, and lay foundation stones for projects worth INR 5,400 crore. Among others, the events will put a spotlight on green mobility, clean energy, power infrastructure, and transport upgrades. His first address will take place at Khodaldham ground in Ahmedabad on August 25.
On August 26, Modi will visit the Suzuki Motor plant in Hansalpur, where two milestones will be celebrated. The first one is the inauguration of the localised production of hybrid battery electrodes. Second is the flagging off of India-made EV exports to 100 countries.
India Becomes Suzuki’s Global EV Hub
One of the biggest announcements of the visit will be the launch of the “e VITARA”, Suzuki’s first global strategic Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV).
Entirely designed and manufactured in India, the model will be exported to more than 100 countries, including Europe and Japan. With this rollout, India is set to officially become Suzuki’s global manufacturing base for electric vehicles, owing to the Make in India push, according to the official release.
Localised Battery Production in Gujarat
Alongside EV exports, the PM will also inaugurate localised production of hybrid battery electrodes at the TDS Lithium-Ion Battery Plant in Gujarat.
Jointly promoted by Toshiba, Denso, and Suzuki, the facility marks a major milestone in India’s domestic battery ecosystem. Officials highlight that over 80 percent of the battery value will now be manufactured in India, strengthening the nation’s roadmap toward Aatmanirbhar Bharat in clean energy technologies.
Strengthening Power Supply in Gujarat
The Prime Minister will also inaugurate power distribution projects worth over INR 1,000 crore under the Uttar Gujarat Vij Company Limited (UGVCL). Covering Ahmedabad, Mehsana, and Gandhinagar, the projects are part of the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme.
Officials say the upgrades will minimise outages during adverse weather, improve reliability, protect transformers, and enhance overall public safety.
