India Adds 30 GW Of Solar Capacity In 9 Months Of FY26 Photograph: (Saur Energy)
India added a total of 30.16 GW of solar power capacity during the first nine months of FY 2025–26, according to the latest data released by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).
With these additions, India’s cumulative installed solar capacity stood at 135.8 GW as of the end of December 2025.
The data show that 2.96 GW of new solar capacity was added in December 2025 alone. During the same month, the country also added 524.91 MW of wind power capacity.
Wind Energy Additions
During the first nine months of FY26, India added a total of 4.47 GW of wind energy capacity, taking the country’s installed wind power capacity to 54.51 GW by the end of December 2025.
Overall, India added 34.72 GW of renewable energy capacity during the period, excluding large hydro. With this, the country’s total renewable energy capacity has reached 207 GW.
The record solar and wind capacity additions during the first nine months of FY26 have already surpassed the total renewable capacity added during the entire FY 2024–25, indicating an acceleration in clean energy deployment in the ongoing fiscal year.
Calendar Year Performance
On a calendar-year basis, India added 37.94 GW of solar capacity in 2025, alongside a record 6.34 GW of wind capacity.
As a result, India’s total renewable energy capacity additions stood at 44.61 GW between January and December 2025, reflecting the strongest annual expansion of solar and wind power capacity to date.
