The systems will be installed across industrial hubs, renewable energy integration projects, and microgrid applications, aiming to provide cost-effective, thermally stable, and safe storage solutions. The first installations are expected to begin in the second half of 2025, with deployments planned in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and other western states.

“We’re thrilled to have UNIGRID as our technology partner,” said Anushka Singhal, Energy Division Lead at Indexel. “Sodium-ion batteries are safer, cheaper, and better suited to Indian climatic conditions. This partnership accelerates our vision of resilient and clean energy for all.”

Unlike lithium-ion batteries, sodium-ion technology is non-flammable, performs well in extreme temperatures, and uses more abundant raw materials, making it a safer and more sustainable option, the company said.
