A Hyderabad-based aircraft engine firm-Safran Aircraft Engines Hyderabad Pvt. Ltd has now converted its carport into a solar powerhouse. New Delhi-based solar Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) company–Enerture Technologies executed the project for Safran.

The firm said that  solar carport’s dual functionality of providing shade for vehicles while harnessing solar energy exemplifies the synergy between sustainability and innovation.

“By leveraging sunlight to generate electricity, Enerture’s solution not only reduces Safran’s carbon footprint but also contributes to long-term cost savings and energy independence, Enerture said in a media statement.

The solar carport has a capacity of 478 KWp. It is situated at the GMR Aerospace Industrial Park in Hyderabad. The solar carport at Safran houses 884 solar panels, each with a capacity of 540 Wp. Mono-PERC half-cut cells were utilized in this project, as revealed by the solar project’s details.

The Safran solar carport has solar modules manufactured by Longi and four on-grid inverters provided by SOFAR. According to the developers, the solar-powered house can reduce 600 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually and is expected to generate 0.82 million units of power per year.

“The completion of the solar carport installation underscores Enerture’s unwavering commitment to fostering environmental stewardship and promoting innovation in the energy sector. By integrating solar panels into carports, Enerture has demonstrated a multifaceted approach to sustainability, addressing both energy production and vehicular shading needs simultaneously,” the EPC firm said in a statement.
