HiTHIUM unveiled the ∞Power8 6.9MW/55.2MWh at its third Eco-Day event, the world’s first 8-hour-native battery energy storage solution. Built on a dedicated long-duration energy storage (LDES) system architecture, the innovation integrates a specialised 8-hour battery cell, designed natively from cell to system.

Pioneering 8-Hour Long-Duration Energy Storage

The ∞Power8 6.9MW/55.2MWh is a turnkey, all-weather energy storage system designed for maximum efficiency and safety. Each standardized unit delivers 6.9MW of power and 55.2MWh of energy, comprising one medium-voltage module and eight energy storage modules.

With optimized hoisting and cabling, the system reduces on-site work intensity and boosts deployment efficiency by 18 percent while cutting land use by 23 percent compared to the previous generation. 

Preconfigured for standalone storage plants and large wind - solar hybrid projects, it is built to withstand extreme environmental conditions, the company said.

Cost Optimization

By eliminating redundant components and refining integration, ∞Power8 increases system integration by over 10 percent, improving overall efficiency by more than 30 percent. The streamlined structure significantly lowers capital expenditure, providing enhanced economic returns for large-scale deployments.

Intelligent control algorithms, thermal-island simulation, and end-to-end active balancing reduce auxiliary power consumption by over 30 percent. HiTHIUM estimates that the active balancing feature alone can save more than USD 1 million per 1 GWh of long-duration storage.

1300Ah 8-Hour Cell: Power, Safety, and Longevity

At the core of the ∞Power8 is the ∞Cell 1300Ah 8h, a dedicated long-duration lithium cell engineered for the 6.9MWh system. Each cell offers four times the capacity of mainstream products, reducing system component count by over 30 percent. 

With multilayer protection and non-propagating thermal runaway resistance, the cell is ensures safe operation for over 25 years, the company assures.

HiTHIUM’s proprietary ultra-thick electrode technology overcomes challenges such as cracking, ion transport inefficiency, and electrolyte penetration. 

HiTHIUM’s cell portfolio now spans 587Ah, 1175Ah, and 1300Ah capacities, with the first two already achieving GWh-scale shipments. The ∞Power8 6.9MW/55.2MWh system is slated for mass production in Q4 2026, marking another leap in scalable clean energy infrastructure.
