Themed Uttar Pradesh - Powering a USD 1 Trillion Economy through Renewable Energy, the summit was organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Northern Region, in partnership with the Uttar Pradesh New & Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA). The event underscored the state's growing commitment to renewable energy as a catalyst for economic growth.

Project Details and Long-Term Impact

Awarded by the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd (UPPCL) through a competitive bidding process in April 2025, the Lalitpur solar project is expected to supply clean electricity to the state for the next 25 years. In addition to supporting Uttar Pradesh’s clean energy transition, the project aims to create local employment opportunities and foster sustainable community development.

This initiative contributes to the state’s ambitious target of achieving 22,000 MW of renewable energy capacity by 2026–27.

Hindustan Power’s Vision for Green Growth

Commenting on the project, Ratul Puri, Chairman of Hindustan Power, said, “With the Lalitpur project office now open, our teams are eager to start, and we look forward to working with the local community as we move ahead with this solar initiative. We remain dedicated to delivering reliable, green energy that not only powers homes and businesses but also helps build a cleaner, stronger future for generations to come.”

The Lalitpur project aligns with Hindustan Power’s broader strategic goal of achieving 5 GW of clean energy capacity by expanding its renewable energy portfolio across India.

Expanding Renewable Footprint

Hindustan Power has been actively increasing its presence in India’s renewable energy sector. Recently, the company secured a 100 MW inter-state transmission system (ISTS)-connected solar power project along with a 200 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) from SJVN Limited, a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise.

Additionally, the firm was awarded a Letter of Intent (LOI) from Bihar State Power Generation Company Limited (BSPGCL) to develop a 120 MWh standalone BESS across three critical grid substations in Bihar. This project will be executed on a Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) model, further solidifying Hindustan Power’s role in advancing India’s energy storage infrastructure.
