Gujarat: Sunora Solar Secures 125 MW Solar Order Under DREBP Scheme
Gujarat-based Sunora Solar has secured a 125 MW solar panel order under the Distributed Renewable Energy Bilateral Procurement (DREBP) scheme in Saurashtra, Gujarat, the company said in a release. The project is valued at ₹170 crore.
“With our new project, we have taken a step forward in helping India achieve 500 gigawatts (GW) of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030,” the company said, adding that the initiative reinforces its commitment to green energy adoption and a sustainable future.
The company stated that the project scope encompasses site analysis, panel mounting, installation of electrical storage and distribution units, and maintenance. The 125 MW solar plant is expected to generate local employment and boost both the quality of life and the regional economy, it said.
DREBP
Earlier this year, KPI Green Energy’s subsidiary Sun Drops Energia Private Limited secured a 62.20 MW order to develop solar power projects. KPI Green’s latest order raised its total capacity to 152.34 MW under its Captive Power Producer (CPP) business segment.
The company said in a regulatory filing that it secured the order from multiple clients under the DREBP Policy, part of the Gujarat Renewable Energy Policy 2023, and the Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission’s (GERC) Tariff Order No. 5 and 6 of 2024.
Renewable energy generated through DREBP will be claimed by distribution companies (DISCOMs) to meet their Renewable Purchase Obligations (RPO). The Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) is not mandatory under the policy.
Developers can shift the project location after signing a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), subject to Security-Cum-Submission Deposit (SCSD) guidelines, though the SCSD amount will remain unchanged. A new Solar Power Purchase Agreement (SPPA) must be signed for location changes, but changes to the interconnection point are not allowed.
Producers will not be entitled to claim carbon credits, Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) benefits, or RPO credits from these projects.
