Gujarat: KPI Green Commissions First Phase of GUVNL's 250 MW Solar Project Ahead of Schedule

With a total contractual completion timeline extending to October 2026, the project is progressing steadily in line with KPI Green’s planned execution goal.

Gujarat-based KPI Green Energy has achieved a significant early milestone in its ongoing 250 MW AC / 350 MW DC grid-connected solar IPP project awarded by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL). In a press release, the company announced the early commissioning of the project, with the first phase comprising 24.2 MW AC / 34.4 MW DC capacity, completed well ahead of the overall contractual schedule.

KPI Green said the project forms part of the 250 MW AC (350 MW DC) grid-connected solar photovoltaic power project awarded to the company through a competitive bidding process under RFS No. GUVNL/500 MW/Solar (Phase-XXIV), dated March 15, 2024. The tender was issued by GUVNL for the procurement of power from grid-connected solar projects across India.

Project Timeline

KPI Green won the project from GUVNL in March 2025 and announced partial commissioning around 11 months later. With the overall contractual completion timeline extending to October 2026, the project is progressing steadily in line with the company’s planned execution goals. The remaining project capacity is expected to be implemented at a similar pace, while maintaining high standards of efficiency, quality, and execution excellence.

GUVNL offered the capacity with a greenshoe option to multiple bidders. Apart from KPI Green Energy, which secured capacity at a tariff of ₹2.67/kWh, other successful bidders in the 500 MW auction included Avaada Energy (₹2.68/kWh), Solarcraft Power India–BluPine (₹2.69/kWh), and Hinduja Renewables and NRC Industries (₹2.72/kWh).

Under the bucket-filling method, KPI Green was awarded 120 MW, while Avaada Energy secured 200 MW, and Hinduja Renewables received 130 MW. Solarcraft Power India–BluPine won 40 MW, with the remaining 10 MW allocated to NRC Industries.
