Govt Clears ₹3,164 Cr for Green Corridors; MP Gets Biggest Share
India has implemented State Transmission Utilities (STUs) in eight Renewable Energy (RE) rich States, viz Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Tamil Nadu, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) said.
Shripad Yesso Naik, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and Power, shared these details in a written reply before the Lok Sabha. It showed that 3,164.70 crore has been sanctioned across eight states, and Rs. 2,839.104 crore has been released uptill July 31, 2025, under the InSTS GEC Phase-I.
In the Intra-State Transmission System Green Energy Corridor Phase-I (InSTS GEC-I) scheme, he said, “Out of the 8 States, 4 have completed all the projects, viz. Rajasthan, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu. The States of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, and Himachal Pradesh have been granted extension up to June 2025. However, these states have requested for further extension up to Dec’2025. “
Whereas, on the implementation of the project minister stated, “The Green Energy Corridor Phase-II (InSTS GEC Phase-II) scheme is implemented in Seven States, namely Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh.”
Based on the data for funds released under the InST GEC Phase I, Karnataka (₹326.50 crore), Rajasthan (₹241.35 crore), and Tamil Nadu (₹529.28 crore) have disbursed a significant share of the sanctioned funds.
Madhya Pradesh, however, stood out for releasing the second-highest amount of ₹624.23 crore after Gujarat (₹746.40 crore), while also sanctioning the highest allocation of ₹655.09 crore under Phase I of the scheme.
Initiatives Undertaken To Facilitate RE Evacuation
Following innovative technologies, initiatives have been taken by the Government to facilitate the renewable energy evacuation in the country:
(i) Establishment of Renewable Energy Management Centers (REMCs) for real-time forecasting, scheduling, and monitoring of RE generation across 12 RE-rich regions.
(ii) Guidelines for Procurement and Utilization of Battery Energy Storage Systems.
(iii) HVDC corridors for long-distance transfer of RE
(iv) Guidelines for the development of Pumped Storage Projects
(v) Ancillary services from ESS (Energy Storage System) under CERC (Ancillary Services) Regulations, 2022
The minister also gave details of state-wise funds sanctioned and released to find that these eight states are Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Tamil Nadu as the identified states under Green Energy Corridor (GEC) Phase-II.
