GameChange Solar, a global supplier of solar trackers and fixed-tilt racking systems, has signed an agreement with CEEC-ZTPC to supply its Genius Tracker 1P Single Row system for the second phase of the Abydos Solar PV Plant in Egypt.
The project, developed by AMEA Power and constructed by CEEC-ZTPC, will combine a 1 GWac solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant with a 600 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS). Once completed, it will be one of Africa's largest solar-plus-storage projects.
With this new order, GameChange Solar's total installed capacity in Egypt will reach nearly 3 GW, reinforcing its position as one of the region's top solar tracker providers.
“We are honoured to continue our partnership with CEEC-ZTPC and support AMEA Power in delivering another transformative project,” said Vikas Bansal, President – International, GameChange Solar.
“This order, following the successful completion of Abydos I, reflects the trust built through collaboration and consistent execution.”
The Abydos Phase II project aligns with Egypt’s national target of achieving 42 percent renewable energy by 2030. Spanning 20 square kilometres in the Aswan Governorate, the plant is expected to produce approximately 3,000 GWh of clean electricity annually, enough to power more than 500,000 homes and cut over one million tonnes of carbon emissions each year.
Commissioning of the project is scheduled for May 2026.
Solar Trackers Market
The increased demand of renewable energy worldwide, especially solar, has also pushed up the demand for allied components such as solar trackers, which improve the efficiency of solar setup. By 2026, solar is projected to account for more than half the global renewable capacity addition.
As per Markets and Markets recent analysis, the solar tracker market is poised to grow at a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 17.3 percent, increasing from USD 10.3 billion in 2024 to roughly 23 billion by 2029.
Key global players leading the industry include Nextracker (US), Array Technologies (New Mexico), Soltec (US), Arctech (China), and Trinasolar (China). By axis type, the single-axis solar tracker segment is the largest and the fastest-growing sector of the solar tracker market.
