Eolus to Buy 16 Wind Turbines from Siemens Gamesa for Sweden Projects

Eolus, the leading wind power developer in the Nordic region, has signed an agreement with Siemens Gamesa, according to which the latter will deliver 16 wind turbines for upcoming wind projects in Skallberget-Utterberget and Tjarnas, Sweden.

The first project, which is based in the Avesta Municipality in Skallberget-Utterberget, will be supplied with twelve SG 6.6-170 wind turbines that are expected to generate about 74 MW power.

The second project in Tjarnas in Hedemora Municipality will have 4 turbines producing about 25 MW power. The projects will be commissioned in the last quarter of 2023 and both the projects are located in SE3.

In September 2020, Eolus had communicated in a press release about an agreement with Siemens Gamesa under which the company was to supply turbines for Boarp and Dallebo projects. That agreement now stands terminated and transferred to the current agreement.

In the same press release, another agreement was communicated for supplying turbines for the Rosenskog project and this agreement remains in force. The project will likely be completed in the autumn of next year.

Just weeks ago, the Polish government announced an agreement, under which Siemens Gamesa is to supply wind turbines for the country’s offshore wind projects. Two new installations in the Baltic Sea are coming up: MFW Baltyk II and MFW Baltyk III. The agreement also includes a service contract.

Siemens Gamesa is one of the world’s top turbine manufacturers and has supplies round the globe. It has three key divisions – onshore, offshore and service. Siemens Energy – the parent company – has about 67 per cent stake in Siemens Gamesa, which continues to expand and compete with many Chinese manufacturers.

A major investor in the Nordic and Baltic region, Eolus has constructed 666 wind turbines and maintains a portfolio of 1,414 MW. Eolus is active in the whole value chain from development of green field projects to construction and operation of wind farms, claims the company.
