The order covers two Phase II projects—V1-3 Phase II (48 MW) and V1-5 & V1-6 Phase II (80 MW)—and will deploy 16 units of Envision’s EN-226/8.X MW offshore wind turbines. Once commissioned, the projects will feature the largest single-turbine capacity deployed in nearshore wind projects in Vietnam and Southeast Asia.

Among First PDP VIII-Approved Nearshore Wind Projects

Both projects are part of the first batch approved under Vietnam’s Power Development Plan VIII (PDP VIII) and are among the earliest to adopt large-rotor, high-capacity offshore turbines in the country. Construction of the two projects will begin simultaneously, with the sites benefiting from average wind speeds exceeding 7 m/s. Full grid connection is targeted for October 2026.

Offshore-Grade Technology for Challenging Conditions

Envision Energy said it will apply true offshore wind engineering standards to address Vietnam’s high humidity and high salt-spray environment, ensuring long-term turbine reliability, environmental health and safety (EHS) compliance, and localization requirements.

The company has also worked closely with local tower manufacturers and project owners to address challenges related to large offshore turbine tower fabrication and domestic manufacturing capacity, supporting local supply-chain development.

Launched in 2022, Envision’s EN-226/8.X MW platform has already secured over 2.5 GW of global orders, making it one of the most successful offshore turbine models for low-wind-speed regions. The turbine has been deployed at scale and has recorded more than three years of stable offshore operations in China.

“This collaboration marks the first nearshore offshore wind project cluster delivered under Vietnam’s PDP VIII and opens a new chapter for offshore wind development in Southeast Asia. Envision is committed to delivering this project as a regional benchmark and supporting REE Group’s energy transition with scalable and replicable solutions.”

From the developer side, Ashok, General Manager – Renewables at REE Group, said Envision was selected for its technology maturity and execution track record.

“The EN-226/8.X MW platform, combined with Envision’s gigawatt-scale offshore experience, gives us strong confidence that this project will set a benchmark for nearshore and offshore wind development in Vietnam and across Southeast Asia.”

The project strengthens Vietnam’s push toward net-zero emissions, while positioning nearshore wind as a cost-effective and scalable pathway for accelerating offshore wind deployment in Southeast Asia.
