Elmya Energy and Atlantica Sustainable Infrastructure Ltd have officially launched a new joint venture called Elmantic, aimed at developing 4 GW of utility-scale renewable energy projects across the United States. This partnership combines the development expertise of Elmya Energy USA with the operational excellence and investment capabilities of Atlantica North America, aiming for a major expansion in US renewable energy infrastructure.

Joint Venture Overview

Elmantic will leverage the combined strengths of both companies to accelerate renewable energy and battery storage project developments.

Carlos Piñar, Managing Director of Elmya, highlighted the US as one of the largest and most dynamic energy markets globally. He stated that Elmantic's formation comes at a pivotal time for the US power sector, emphasising renewable energy’s continuing role in America's economic growth.

Elmantic’s initial focus will be on greenfield renewable energy and battery storage projects primarily in the ERCOT and WECC markets. With offices located in Richmond, Virginia, and Austin, Texas, Elmya Energy USA plans to expand its workforce in 2025 to support the new venture.

Elmya is an international renewable energy company. Elmya, founded in 1966 in Seville, Spain, originally as an electrical contractor, has expanded into a global renewable energy leader. The firm now now designs, develops, builds, and operates solar photovoltaic (PV) projects, battery storage, and green hydrogen developments. It has connected more than 3 GW of renewable projects worldwide and currently developing over 6 GW across Europe.

Atlantica is a major sustainable infrastructure company focused on renewable energy, storage, efficient natural gas, and transmission assets across multiple continents including North America.
