Andhra Pradesh Transmission Corporation (APTRANSCO) has concluded the 1,000 MW/2,000 MWh Battery Energy Storage tender, awarding the bids at varied tariff rates, three months after issuing the tender in August this year. With this tender, the battery energy storage developer (BESSD) will supply energy in blocks for two operational cycles per day, i.e., two complete charge-discharge cycles per day.
APTRANSCO awarded the largest portion of the tender to Ecoren, which secured a 275 MW project at a tariff of ₹150,000/MW/month for the Talaricheruvu substation and a 225 MW project at a tariff of ₹165,000 (~$1,844.4)/MW/month for the Pampanuruthanda substation.
Bondada Engineering secured a 225 MW project for the Hindupur substation, and Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) secured a 150 MW BESS project at the Kalikiri substation. Both companies secured their projects at a tariff of ₹164,000/MW/month.
Another portion, comprising a 75 MW project, was awarded to Legion Energy Products, while a 25 MW BESS project was awarded at ₹150,000/MW/month. SBR Electro Project secured a 25 MW project at a tariff of ₹148,000/MW/month.

Previous BESS Tender in Andhra Pradesh
In a separate tender, companies including InSolare Energy secured a 600 MW/1,200 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) contract from the Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI). The project is located in Kolimigundla, Nandiyal district, Andhra Pradesh, and is connected to the Kurnool-3 substation of the ISTS network.
Other companies like Pace Digitek also bagged a major order from the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for a 600 MW/1,200 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) worth ₹1,159.31 crore (including GST) with 10 years of service and maintenance for the DC package. The system will connect to the Kurnool-3 substation of the Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) network and will include a 15-year maintenance contract from the date of commissioning.
