Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has issued a tender inviting bids for 3.5 MW rooftop solar projects for its Phase-IV network stations that are currently under construction. The tender has been issued under the Renewable Energy Supply Company (RESCO) model. According to DMRC tender, the last date to submit the bids is April 25 while the bids will be opened the next day.

According to the tender document, the scope of the work includes design, engineering, supply, installation, testing, commissioning, and 25-year operation and maintenance of 3.5 MW rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) projects. The metro firm, DMRC, has sought bids for the under-construction metro stations at its Majlis Park to Maujpur section and Majlis Park to Deepali Chowk section along with Madhuban Chowk and Mukundpur Depot.

So far as the eligibility criteria are concerned, the DMRC tender states that the bidders should have successfully commissioned grid-connected solar power projects within the last seven years. Further, the bidders will be required to have a minimum of 2,800 kW capacity, or two similar works each totaling a minimum of 1,750 kW capacity, or three similar works each totaling a minimum of 1,400 kW capacity plants. On financial turf, the criteria for bidders stand at having an average annual turnover of the last five financial years to be at least $ 73 million.

Last year, the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC), in its latest suo motto order, allowed the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (DMRC) to transition from General Network Access (GNA) to GNA-Renewable Energy (RE). Last month, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation received the prestigious 4th India Green Energy Award in the ‘Outstanding Green Energy Consumer/User-Industrial/Commercial’ category.

Delhi Metro has also announced that it will increase share of solar power in its total power procurement to 50% by 2031. At present, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) sources 34% of its power from solar power projects.
