Last week, the Adani Foundation, a CSR arm of Adani Group, contributed Rs 100 crore towards PM’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM CARES Fund).

Now, its employees have contributed Rs 4 crore along with the Adani Foundation with the additional support of Rs 4 crore i.e. an aggregate of Rs 8 crore to PM CARES Fund.

Billionaire Gautam Adani has revealed about various initiatives that his Group companies have taken so far through his blog post ‘Adani Parivaar puts heart and sweat in India’s battle against COVID-19’ on the professional networking site.

He wrote “we are foreseeing times which would divide human history into two eras – the world before the COVID-19 outbreak and one that survived it. Despite decisive global actions translating into a disciplined lockdown of nations, the pandemic continues to challenge human well-being.”

“While we cannot change the damage caused our immediate efforts would determine the course of this humanitarian crisis,” Adani said.

Optimistically he further added that “many decades or centuries later when our children look back, they must be proud of our compassion as citizens of the world’s most populous democracy who did not give up. They should know all Indians fought well and stood united with the government in India’s fightback.”

That being said, the need of the hour is to scale up efforts as India moves into a decisive phase of its battle against the Coronavirus outbreak.

On Adani Foundation’s Rs 100 crore contribution, he stated that “Governments both in the Centre and states have led from the front and I’m confident that the aid would help in activating immediate help at the ground level.”

A day after the announcement of contribution by Adani Foundation, CEOs and HR heads from our businesses reached out to me stating that they were getting flooded with employees’ emails keen to contribute towards COVID-19 relief efforts, Adani said.

“It was a moving gesture. I’m grateful to the Adani Parivaar, our workforce in India for contributing about Rs 4 crore for the battle against COVID2019. It is because of the solidarity demonstrated by this workforce of more than 17,000 people that the Adani Foundation could add another Rs 4 crore, collectively contributing another Rs 8 crore towards COVID-19 relief projects in India,” Gautam Adani said.

By appreciating the efforts of his employees, he further wrote “the compassion and values of our people is what reinstates our belief in nation-building driven by our core philosophy of Growth with Goodness. I also salute our heroes working sincerely at our ports, power plants, transmission sites, distribution stations, edible oil refineries, and the gas business to ensure efficient delivery of essentials to Indian homes.”

Adani shows his commitment by stating that “as a responsible corporate, we will continue to stand by the nation in various capacities. On that note, I must take this opportunity to thank our teams for the following measures taken until now.”

“Adani Foundation contributes Rs 5 crore to Gujarat CM-Relief Fund and Rs 1 crore to Maharashtra CM- Relief Fund. Contributions also made to Kattupalli District Collector COVID-19 Fund and the Bhadra District Administration,” he said. “Providing 100 ventilators to the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation immediately followed with PPEs (Personal Protective Equipments) and N-95 Masks.”

Besides, women cooperatives aided by Adani Saksham produced over 1.2 lakh masks, he said. GAIMS is the only hospital equipped for handling COVID19 cases in Kutch, India’s largest district.

Adani added that “our businesses ensuring a seamless supply of essentials, gas & electricity to Indian households. Educating communities settled around key business locations through awareness drives and the availability of safety kits.” He also informed that “business canteens cooking healthy food for truck drivers and the labourers’.” Partnering with AMC in delivering essentials across Ahmedabad through Adani Gas-fueled CNG autos.

He stated “over the past three decades, everything that we aimed for and achieved in the Adani Group has been in the interest of the nation. We will continue to live by our legacy.”

“In closing, I would like to reiterate that the Adani Group will continue to pull together resources supporting governments and fellow citizens in these testing times,” he concluded.
