Gujarat-based solar module manufacturer Cosmic PV Power has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indygreen Technologies to establish a 2 GW Lithium-ion battery production line dedicated to Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The agreement was formalised during the Renewable Energy India (REI) Expo 2025 held in Greater Noida.
The supply and commissioning of the new production line are expected to be completed by March 2026 and will be situated at Surat, Gujarat. This marks Cosmic PV Power’s formal entry into India’s fast-growing energy storage segment.
“BESS is a hot cake in the industry right now - it adds 4-5 years of lifespan to solar. With the government’s positive policy for the segment, the dust of concerns related to future demand and other uncertainties has now settled down. We want to become the pioneers in the sector; we don’t want to miss this opportunity. So, we have now signed our first BESS production line with Indygreen Technologies,” said Shravan Gupta, the Director and Co-founder of Cosmic PV Power. The next decade, at least, will be for solar+BESS, Gupta added.
Expanding Manufacturing Footprint
The announcement follows closely on the heels of another major milestone for Cosmic PV Power - the company’s acquisition of 60 acres of land in Narmadapuram, Madhya Pradesh, from the state government for setting up a new 4 GW solar cell manufacturing line.
Having started solar module manufacturing in 2020 with an initial capacity of 100 MW, Cosmic PV Power has grown steadily over the past five years to reach 3 GW. With the addition of the new cell manufacturing facility and the 2 GW BESS production line, the company is moving toward becoming a fully integrated clean energy solutions provider.
