CIL Invites EoIs To Develop 3 GW Solar EPC Projects Across India
Coal India Limited (CIL) has issued a tender seeking an Expression of Interest (EoI) from solar EPC companies to develop 3,000 MW solar projects across potential states of India. CIL, through the tender, has sought interest from solar EPC players to develop solar power projects until September 16, 2025.
Sharing the tender details, CIL said in its notice that it is planning to set up a 3,000 MW solar power project in regions with substantial solar resources in potential states of India, considering existing/committed transmission (ISTS and state) and recent state policy moves. Tentative locations include states such as Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh.
Scope of Work
CIL, under the scope of work, explained that the project would involve a turnkey EPC of the entire plant, including the supply of solar PV modules along with land and BOS. Applicants can quote for any capacity between 200 MW and 3,000 MW based on their capabilities. The tender offers a minimum CUF of 25% for the proposed project.
This tender aligns with CIL's plan to reach up to 9.5 GW of renewable power capacity by 2029-30. The tender document explained, "So far, CIL has installed a 210 MW total capacity to date, which comprises Rooftop and Ground Mounted Projects in CIL and its subsidiaries. It also plans to develop these renewable energy projects in a phased manner. Initially, it plans to develop a 2500 – 3000 MW solar project in India." CIL also said that it is in the process of identifying suitable locations with respect to energy yield and proximity to the ISTS network.
