Chinese TOPCon Cell Major Jietai Solar Takes Aim At India, Turkey Markets

Amidst all the uncertainty on ALMM exemption continuing beyond March next year, or India’s push for manufacturing progress in the solar supply chain, a key Chinese cell maker is still hopeful of making inroads into the Indian market. The firm, with a network spread across Jiangsu (marketing), Jiangxi (Industrial), and Anhui (Industrial)  province in China

Shangrao Jietai New Energy Technology Co., Ltd.( also know as“Jietai Solar”), a high-tech and innovative solar technology enterprise listed in China is focused on TOPCon cells, and hopeful of making a serious dent into the Indian market. Jietai Solar focuses on the R&D, manufacturing and sales of high-efficiency solar cells, the main products include large-size P-type PERC cells and N-type TOPCon cells. The firm claims that the average conversion efficiency of P-type PERC cells exceeds 23.8%, and the conversion efficiency of N-type TOPCon cells exceeds 25.5%.

Like many of the solar majors in China, Jietai solar has been in the midst of a frenetic manufacturing capacity expansion that has trebled its annual capacity from 17.5GW at the end of 2022 to 53.5GW now – of which 44GW is TOPCon capacity. Beyond these, 13GW of the new TOPCon focused capacity is still under construction.

With a large research and engineering team of over 1,000 members, JTPV is hopeful of staying ahead in the competitive market for TOPCon cells that is evolving in real time with increasing demand and the strong shift towards n-type cells. Its key TOPcon product product ‘MoNo 1’, promises  a conversion efficiency of 25.8% for mass production.

The surge in TOPCon demand globally , which has surprised quite a few observers in China itself,  has seen JTPV  look at overseas markets much more seriously, with the firm initially focusing on p-type sales as module capacity was dominated by P-type outside China. With the global shift from p-type to n-type picking pace, the firm has identified Turkey and India as two key markets offering an opportunity for it to seek a higher share of global sales for its TOPcon cells.
