Centuary Mattresses Goes Solar With Freyr Energy

In a bid to contribute towards country’s clean and green energy initiatives, one of the leading mattress makers, Centuary Mattresses has successfully commissioned 240 KW solar system at its Kazipally manufacturing plant in Hyderabad.

For the installation of the solar plant Shree Malani Group arm joined hands with Hyderabad-based full-service solar provider firm Freyr Energy.

The move came as the company wants to fulfill its rising energy demand via eco-friendly uninterrupted power supply after it saw surge in business operations and also acceleration in mattresses production.

Post assessment of many options, Centuary Mattresses has considered solar energy for power generation which it thinks would be a game changer.

Commenting on moving towards green energy, Centuary Mattresses, Executive Director, Uttam Malani said, “Renewable content is integral to our Business model – whether be its products we make or the way we operate. Centuary has for decades championed use of natural materials such as coir for sleep solutions and has consciously taken this step into renewable energy to further its sustainability quotient. I am positive about the wise choice we have made by partnering with Freyr Energy and look forward to installing solar panels at our other plants too.”

Initially, Freyr Energy commissioned pilot project of 25KW at the company’s premises after carefully analyzing energy requirement, costs, savings involved and while keeping the safety risk at minimum.

Subsequent to the successful trial run, Freyr Energy installed an additional 215 kW solar power plant in March 2019.

“We value Centuary Mattresses as an esteemed customer and applaud them for engaging with renewable energy for their energy requirements. We look forward to a long-term relationship where we continue to provide solar as a way to continually balance their energy needs in a sustainable way,” said Saurabh Marda, Managing Director, Freyr Energy.

During the first year, the company is expected that this solar plant is expected to generate around 3.80 lakh kWh of clean power.

Meanwhile, through this solar plant installation, the mattresses manufacturer is likely to eliminate approx 329 tons of greenhouse gas emissions which would be an equivalent of planting 3,750 trees every year.
