BPCL Awards 52 MW Solar Consultancy Contract To Ahasolar Technologies Stellantis To Invest $100mn in Argentina's Solar Energy Sector

Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) has announced it has awarded the consultancy contract for setting up a 52 MW solar power project in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh to Ahasolar Technologies. The tender for the solar power project was floated by BPCL in February.

Under the ambit of the project, BPCL has planned to power its refineries through solar-produced power including 8MW Mumbai Refinery, 22 MW Bina Refinery, and 16 MW Kochi Refinery. As part of the contract, Ahasolar will be responsible for commissioning the project within the agreed schedule, ensuring the quality of procurement items and construction workmanship is in line with established engineering practices, standards, and codes, and project risk management, read the notice by BPCL.

Further, the scope of work also includes BPCL to prepare and finalize all engineering and tender documents, technical specifications, and the engineering, procurement, and construction contract terms and manage the technical and financial evaluation of EPC bids received by BPCL.

In other news, expanding its clean energy push Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and two-wheeler electric manufacturer Ather Energy joined forces to expand the EV network in India, last year The partnership paves the way for Ather Energy to get access to BPCL’s network of more than 21,000 fuel stations in India, making it possible for Ather to install fast-charging Grid. India’s largest EV charging network, which boasts of over 1,400 chargers in 100 cities, has been installed by Ather.

In another order, Servotech Power Systems, an EV Charger manufacturer in India, bagged an order for 1800 DC Fast EV chargers from Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited. The project, valued at 120 crores, is expected to involve Servotech manufacturing, supplying, installing, and deploying these 1800 EV chargers across the nation.

A recent report also threw light on solar imports where India imported Rs 28,726.8 crore worth of solar photovoltaic cells, assembled in the form of solar modules or solar panels, from April 2023 till January 2024. This value is 3.86 times higher than fiscal 2023.
