Indian solar module manufacturer Bluebird Solar on Monday announced it will expand its manufacturing capacity from 1.2 GW to 2.5 GW at its Greater Noida facility by October 2025.

The move comes as the company seeks to meet growing demand driven by India’s renewable energy targets and flagship government schemes such as PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, PM-KUSUM, and the Make in India programme under Atmanirbhar Bharat.

“Our expansion to 2.5 GW is not just about increasing capacity — it’s about scaling impact,” said Akshay Mittal, Director at Bluebird Solar. “The upgraded facility will support India's energy transition by delivering world-class solar modules manufactured domestically.”

The expanded plant will feature advanced AI-powered automation, upgraded quality control systems, and energy-efficient operations aimed at serving both rooftop and utility-scale projects. It will continue producing ALMM, BIS and IEC-certified PV modules, widely used by EPC firms, solar developers, and subsidy-linked installations.

The company said the expansion is expected to generate over 500 direct and indirect jobs, supporting the government’s goals around clean energy employment and local industrial development.
