Bihar: Power Mech Bags Orders Under PM-KUSUM Scheme By Chitrika Grover/ Updated On Fri, Jun 27th, 2025 PM-KUSUM: Punjab Issues Bid To Solarise 200 Agri Pumps Hyderabad-based Power Mech Projects Ltd has secured orders from Bihar State Power Generation Company Ltd (BSPGCL) for the construction of grid-connected distributed solar power plants, the company said in a regulatory filing. Power Mech added, “The projects, with a cumulative capacity of 13.66 MW (AC), are expected to generate revenue of about ₹159 crore over a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) period.” The company said it secured the contracts for the agricultural and mixed-load feeders’ solarisation at various power substations in Bihar. The company added that it secured the latest order under the PM-KUSUM Component C2 scheme, implemented through the RESCO mode. Bihar DISCOMs will procure Power from the plants — North Bihar Power Distribution Company Ltd (NBPDCL) and South Bihar Power Distribution Company Ltd (SBPDCL). Bihar Solar Project It added that this project is spread across three locations: Rajoun (4.221 MW), Sakahara (4.285 MW), and Sambhuganj (5.155 MW). The company won these projects across these three locations at ₹1.05 crore/MW each and received a ₹0.45 crore/MW subsidy from the Bihar government each. Power Mech additionally said, “It secured the recent orders from three locations across Bihar for different values. The company secured a Rajoun project at ₹48.29 crore, the Sakahara project for ₹49.02 crore, and the Sambhuganj project for ₹61.78 crore. These projects are expected to be completed within 12 months. Govt Expedites Renewable Energy Projects Across Bihar To accelerate the development of renewable energy projects across Bihar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for multiple projects worth over ₹5,900 crore at Siwan through video conferencing. Among them was the foundation stone for a 500 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in the state. The BESS project is being implemented at 15 grid substations across Bihar, including Muzaffarpur, Motihari, Bettiah, and Siwan. Each substation will have a battery capacity ranging between 20 MWh and 80 MWh. Additionally, Hindustan Power was recently awarded a Letter of Intent (LoI) from Bihar State Power Generation Company Ltd (BSPGCL) for a 120 MWh standalone BESS project. The project, to be developed under the Build, Own, Operate, Transfer (BOOT) model, will be executed at Bhagalpur (40 MWh), Udakishanganj (40 MWh), and Sitamarhi (40 MWh). The project, operating under the BOOT model for 12 years, is backed by Viability Gap Funding (VGF) and is expected to be completed within 18 months from the signing of the Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreement (BESPA).
