Bhubaneswar: TPREL Ropes In EMI Options To Boost Rooftop Solar

Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tata Power, has now brought forth EMI options to boost the adoption of rooftop solar in the state capital of Odisha. Tata Power has an added advantage in the state as the electricity distribution is managed by the subsidiaries of Tata Power in the state, including Bhubaneswar.

Under its ‘Ghar Ghar Solar’ campaign, TRPEL has now planned to offer rooftop solar for 3 kW at a minimum monthly EMI of Rs 3,299. This new initiative aims to make rooftop solar accessible to a wider section of Odisha’s population through an easy and consumer-friendly financing model.

The firm calls it the country’s most affordable residential solar solution in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, under its ‘Ghar Ghar Solar’ campaign.

 

With minimal upfront investments starting at INR 2,499 for 1 kW systems, INR 4,999 for 2 kW, and INR 7,999 for 3 kW, Tata Power aims to turn solar energy into a viable choice for households across the state, increasing the affordability of the most abundant renewable source of energy..

The programme builds on the central government’s PM Surya Gha Muft Bijli Yojana, which offers subsidies of up to INR 78,000 for systems up to 3 kW. This will cover nearly 40 percent of installation costs.

This is in addition to the Odisha state government’s further boost in affordability by offering additional subsidies of INR 25,000 for 1 kW, INR 50,000 for 2 kW, and up to INR 60,000 for systems of 3 kW and above.

Two Premium Lifestyle Offerings

To meet evolving consumer demands, TPREL has also introduced two premium lifestyle offerings – MySine and Solar Design Spaces. MySine is a compact solar plus battery backup system designed for seamless, uninterrupted power supply. On the other hand, Solar Design Spaces are a curated set of 25 aesthetically designed rooftop installations combining function with modern visual appeal.

As per TPREL, the campaign has already shown strong traction in the state. Rooftop solar adoption has quadrupled, with the consumer base rising from 430 to 1,759.  In FY25 alone, TPREL onboarded 1,033 residential customers – nearly ten times the number added in FY24. The Commercial & Industrial (C&I) segment also saw growth, with 76 new customers in FY25 compared to 56 in the previous fiscal, the firm reports.

This latest financing model, however, is akin to several other private solar companies operating in the country and the state, which have collaborated with many banks and Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs) like Credit Fair, Ecofy and others to offer solar rooftop through EMIs.
