Bhopal Solar Plant Inauguration

Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) has installed a 10 MW solar power plant in Neemuch, with the electricity generated to be used for the city's water supply system. The project was virtually inaugurated by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav.

Yadav inaugurated the project while addressing the gathering at the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony for the “Bhoj-Narmada Dwar,” to be built at Samardha on Narmadapuram Road in Bhopal. Urban Development and Housing Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya said, "Installing a solar power plant in Neemuch by Bhopal Municipal Corporation is an effective step towards self-reliance."

On this occasion, Urban Development and Housing Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, Sports Youth Welfare and Cooperation Minister Vishwas Sarang, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Backward Classes and Minority Welfare Krishna Gaur, Bhopal Mayor Malti Rai, Bhopal MP Alok Sharma, MLA Rameshwar Sharma, and MLA Bhagwan Das Sabnani were present.

Alignment With MP Renewable Energy Policy

The project aligns with Madhya Pradesh’s renewable energy policy, which targets investments of ₹50,000 crore in renewable power generation by 2027. It also plans to invest ₹10,000 crore in renewable energy equipment manufacturing by 2027 and ₹4,000 crore by 2024.

Additionally, Madhya Pradesh’s latest policy also aims to add 20% renewable energy (RE) to the state’s energy mix by FY 2024, 30% by FY 2027, and 50% by FY 2030. The policy also provides a broader target for 2027, “It envisions developing a 10,000 MW renewable energy technology-based park/RE hybrid park under GoI/GoMP schemes by FY 2027. Additionally, it plans to add 4,000 MW of renewable energy projects for exporting power outside the state by 2024 and 10,000 MW by FY 2027. Moreover, it aims to generate more than 10,000 new jobs in the renewable energy sector by 2024 and 50,000 new jobs by 2030.”
