BC Jindal Group, has announced the signing of a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd (SECI) for 150 megawatts of round-the-clock (RTC) renewable power.

The capacity allocation represents a significant strategic win under SECI's 1,200 MW RTC tender, which was issued in November of the previous year.

Contract Details and Technical Specifications

The BC Jindal Group secured the 150 MW capacity at a competitive tariff of INR 5.07 per kilowatt-hour.

To fulfil this contractual obligation, the group will establish an inter-state transmission system (ISTS)-connected renewable energy projects incorporating multiple technology components, including solar generation, wind power, and battery energy storage systems (BESS).

The company will assume comprehensive responsibility for the project lifecycle, encompassing land identification, project installation, and interconnection with the ISTS network to ensure seamless power supply to distribution companies (DISCOMs) contracted through SECI. 

The facility is scheduled for commercial commissioning within 24 months from the PPA execution date.

Jindal India Renewable Energy's Rapid Market Expansion

The renewable energy sector represents a strategic growth area for BC Jindal Group. Since entering the renewable energy space in the financial year 2025, Jindal India Renewable Energy, the group's dedicated renewable energy arm, has secured a combined portfolio of 750 megawatts across multiple projects, representing total investment commitments exceeding INR 8,000 crore.

During the financial year 2026, BC Jindal Group has accumulated 450 megawatts of renewable energy project awards from state-owned entities, including the recently announced 300 MW SECI contract

The group's diversified project portfolio extends beyond SECI partnerships. In the preceding fiscal year, Jindal India Renewable Energy received a Letter of Award (LoA) from state-owned NHPC for a 300 MW solar plus storage project, which forms part of NHPC's larger 1,200 megawatt inter-state transmission system (ISTS)-connected solar power initiative that incorporates 600 megawatt/1,200 MW energy storage capacity.

Additionally, the group has won a 300 MW solar plus storage project from SJVN.
