Websol Energy System Limited has announced that the Andhra Pradesh government, through its Industries & Commerce Department, has issued a government order approving the company’s proposed greenfield 4 GW solar cell and solar module manufacturing project.
The manufacturing facility will be located at the Multiproduct Special Economic Zone (MPSEZ) in Naidupeta, Tirupati district, Andhra Pradesh. This approval follows the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Websol and the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (APEDB) on November 15, 2025.
Extended Incentive Package
The Andhra Pradesh government has extended an incentive package for the project, which includes land allotment, fixed capital investment subsidy, power tariff reimbursement, electricity duty exemption, subsidy on industrial water charges, and exemption from stamp duty and other registration charges.
As part of the overall manufacturing complex, Websol also plans to develop a 100 MW captive solar power plant. The captive facility will ensure reliable access to renewable energy for the manufacturing operations and support operating cost efficiencies.
Cell & Module Growth
Commenting on the Government Order, Sohan Lal Agarwal, Managing Director, Websol Energy System Limited, said: “As India advances its renewable energy ambitions alongside the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, the approval received from the Government of Andhra Pradesh enables Websol to make a meaningful contribution through its expansion plans. The state’s supportive industrial ecosystem provides a strong manufacturing platform for executing our 4 GW solar cell and 4 GW solar module growth strategy. We look forward to keeping our stakeholders updated on the progress of this expansion.”
