Andhra Pradesh is already among the frontrunners in India’s renewable sector, boasting an installed solar capacity of approximately 4,550 MW as of mid-2025.

The newly approved Mylavaram plant comes soon after the sanctioning of two other major renewable projects: a 540 MW solar project in Anantapur and an 88 MW wind project in Kurnool, together adding 628 MW to the state’s green grid.

In tandem with these capacity expansions, Andhra Pradesh is ramping up its solar manufacturing capabilities. Jupiter Renewables, a subsidiary of Kolkata-based Jupiter International, is establishing a 4.8 GW solar photovoltaic cell and 1.5 GW module manufacturing facility at Rambilli in Anakapalli district. This facility, with an investment of INR 2,700 crore, is set to make the state a hub for solar technology production and export.
